Bird Watching  (return to things to do home page)

Bird watching is exciting all year round on the Kitsap Peninsula with spring and fall migrations, winter shorebirds, eagles, osprey and more . . .

On our waterfronts, you'll find large concentrations of loons, ducks, herons and shorebirds. In higher elevations, like Green Mountain, there are neo-tropicals that migrate from Mexico. These include tanagers, gross beaks, swallows, hummingbirds and warblers.

Kitsap also has a growing population of Bald Eagles that make this their home year round.  It is not unusual to spot them soaring overhead anywhere on the peninsula.

Ask the Bird Lady: If you need help with identification, or have questions about birds you see on Kitsap, ask Joan Carson, the Bird Lady. Also, let Joan know what birds you see while here - you never know when something special might show up!

Kitsap Audubon Society - the site includes their list of "Where to Bird".

Print out the Birdnotes.com customized Bird Checklist for Kitsap to help you keep track of the birds you see on the Kitsap Peninsula.
