The Future of Tourism Isn’t What It Used To Be
The Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau is sponsoring a unique event for those interested in tourism on the Kitsap Peninsula. This one day seminar is appropriate for businesses and organizations involved in any aspect of tourism and government officials at all levels who want to promote our area as a destination.
With the coordination of multiple Washington State Visitor & Convention bureaus sharing expenses to bring internationally recognized speaker Andy Dumaine to Washington, the KPVCB is able bring this program to Kitsap.
Have you ever gone to a great conference or seminar and returned excited about the prospect of using your new found knowledge only to find that others don’t quite “get” what you’re talking about? Don’t let that happen this time. You’re going to leave this one day event ready to make changes. Bring others from your organization to share the experience!
The Future of Tourism Isn’t What It Used To Be.
Join this fast-paced, hands-on exploration of ways to maximize the economic, social and environmental benefits of tourism. Please leave all industrial age ideas at the door. Find out why the pursuit of more only leads to less. Get a jump on the future by letting go of everything that holds you back. Discover why only thinking about change some of the time never works - especially now. Learn how to secure your future by building linkages with former competitors. Develop a community-wide vision of success and meet the travelers who will help you achieve it. Find out what transformational tourism is and how it can help you move your business beyond green into the more engaging realm of true sustainability. The future of tourism isn’t what it used to be. It will be better.

Andy Dumaine, Founder & Chief Creative Officer
shrinkingfootprint
‘create more with less’
Andy has spent his entire adult life inside of advertising agencies. He began his career as a writer/creative director at two of the world’s largest advertising firms, DDB and Ogilvy, before making the leap to agency owner in 1994. His work for clients such as National Geographic, The Washington Post, Puerto Rico and Intercontinental Hotels earned all of the awards that mattered and many others that didn’t.
Roughly half of Andy’s marketing experience has been dedicated to supporting travel and tourism clients. An enthusiastic traveler in his own right, Andy has collaborated with airlines and airports, tour operators and tourism departments, hotels and convention centers and everything in between. Many of Andy’s first client relationships endure to this day.
Throughout his career Andy provided marketing support to numerous change-making organizations including The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights, The Earth Conservation Corps, The White House Commission on Volunteerism, The Global Futures Project, The Lead Coalition, Doctors Without Borders and many, many others.
Andy’s passion for travel marketing and social responsibility have combined under the banner of shrinkingfootprint - a strategic marketing organization dedicated to creating more with less. shrinkingfootprint prepares clients for a future where eco-efficiency and sustainability are not buzz words, but smart business. shrinkingfootprint works with clients to develop alternative tourism strategies that enhance visitor engagement while reducing pressure on people and place.
The seminar will take place Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Kiana Lodge from 9AM to 4PM and includes lunch. Cost is $69 / $59 for KPVCB Members.
