‘Patience Pays’ in Bainbridge Island with award-winning folksinger Rachel Sedacca

Music Community Resources presents Rachel Sedacca, an award-winning singer/songwriter from Oxnard, CA as she performs in Bainbridge Island for a one-night only performance September 20 at the Pegasus Coffee House.

With a heart-warming style and voice, Rachel Sedacca is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has been likened to such artists as Bonnie Raitt, Grace Slick and Janis Joplin. Her repertoire consists of folksy ballads and bluesy country songs, all infused with an upbeat sense of humor nurtured with time spent on the road. She continues her 2008 Fall “Patience Pays” Tour, rolling into Bainbridge Island for a September 20 performance at the Pegasus Coffee House.

“I am having the time of my life pursuing my first love – music,” Sedacca says. “Traveling in my 35-foot 1971 GMC school bus I lovingly call ‘Patience,’ I’ve covered nearly 6,000 miles of American highways. I look forward to performing in Bainbridge Island and at various venues across Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico.”

Sedacca will attend the FAR-West Music Conference, a regional meeting of the Folk Alliance, in Phoenix October 24-26, 2008, returning home to Ventura County in November for a string of local shows.

WHITE WASHING YELLOW FACES

Kitsap County Historical Society invites you to a First Friday Art Walk Lecture Friday, September 5, 2008

WHITE WASHING YELLOW FACES

During World War II the U.S. military forcibly removed 276 men, women, and children of Japanese ancestry from Bainbridge Island under Franklin Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066. Bainbridge Island’s Japanese American residents were the first in the nation to be relocated to one of 10 inland prison camps.

Dr. Frank Yoshikazu Kitamoto, DDS, was one of those residents. Dr. Kitamoto will share historical photos and personal stories of the islands’ Americans of Japanese descent, from 1883 to the present.
