Farm Kitchen - Saturday Breakfast for June 7, 2008

Saturday Breakfast for June 7, 2008

Saturday Breakfast this week will be a great gathering of old and new friends from 8am til noon. If you’ve been scared away by the long lines, don’t fear. Three of us will be taking your orders, and the line moves quickly. Someone said recently “I’ve met some of the nicest people while standing in line!” and we have heard of new friends made right here at Farm Kitchen. So come on down, join the party!

We have been struck recently by the millions of people pushed into homelessness in Myanmar and China. There are over 14 million refugees in the world today, most of whom never get back home. World Relief, the largest resettling agency in Washington State, is currently welcoming a large rush of Burmese, Iraqi, Bhutanese, Somali & Burundian refugees arriving weekly. We invite you to join with us in donating gently used household items on Saturday. We will have boxes ready, and transport them to World Vision. The local coordinator of volunteers is Anne’s daughter Tauryn. Needed items include bed linens (for twin or queen size; please label!) & towel sets, cooking pots, kitchen utensils and lamps. These will be used in refugees’ first apartments in the Kent area. For other service opportunities, you may also contact Tauryn Beeman via tbeeman@wr.org or (206) 587-0234 ext.111.

This week, the Featured Breakfast includes our Brioche French Toast stuffed with Citrus Cream Cheese, Marionberry Strawberry Compote, Thick Cut Bacon and Fresh Fruit.
Special Pastries this Saturday include these favorites. Remember, you can Order Ahead, too, and super hiking trails are nearby!
Cinnamon Rolls – enjoy a single or take a 4-pack to go
Hollis's Famous 8 Grain Pullaparts - great for breakfast & to have in the freezer for a healthy snack. Order quantities ahead!
Strawberry Danish – local strawberries in a delicious pastry for that taste of summer you remember
Chocolate Chip Cookies - for end-of school treats and early-summer picnics
