Bremerton wins Governor's Planning Award

The City of Bremerton was awarded the Governor's 2008 Smart Communities Award for the development of our Downtown Regional Center Sub Area Plan. The award was presented to our Director of Community Development Andrea Spencer yesterday at an event held in Bellevue WA. Other cities that were recognized for good planning practices were Everett, Newcastle, Kirkland, Sumner, and Adams County.

I am proud of Director Andrea Spencer and her staff and want to thank them for the outstanding work they did in the development of our new Downtown Sub Area Plan. This award for Outstanding Achievement in Creating Livable and Vibrant Communities is only awarded to 6 communities throughout the state so this is a very prestigious honor for our staff. Again congratulations.

Mayor Cary Bozeman
