Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Announces Major Gift
An extremely generous donor has given Bainbridge Arts and Crafts one million dollars to establish an endowment, providing BAC with a lasting and reliable source of funding. The terms of the restricted gift ensure that the principal will be permanently maintained, while providing BAC with an income equal to about 6% of its current operating budget.
Susan Jackson, BAC’s Executive Director, says “The fact that a serious and thoughtful philanthropist would invest this level of support in the Gallery makes me extremely proud of the Staff and Board and all that we’ve accomplished. Unfortunately, the donor’s wish for anonymity prevents us from publicly expressing our gratitude with parades and mariachi bands and champagne.”
Ellin Spenser, President of the Board of Trustees, says “The bumpy economy had recently forced Susan to cut payroll by 20%, so this astonishing gift came at exactly the right moment. This endowment will help to secure the financial health of Bainbridge Arts and Crafts not only today but for many years to come. To the donor, whoever you may be, the Board and the Staff send you our deepest thanks.”
Susan Jackson adds, “I hope that this extraordinary gift will encourage other generous donors to consider a contribution to The Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Endowment. It’s a terrific way to invest in the future of the arts on Bainbridge Island.”
Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, a nonprofit visual arts organization, exists to advance creative achievement, to provide educational opportunities and to exhibit fine arts and crafts of regional artists for the community.
