BPA Theatre School’s Spring Performances Celebrate the Theatre Stage Musical
The Carnival of Animals (A Musical): Monday, June 2 @ 5:30 p.m.
Pinocchio (The Musical): Tuesday & Wednesday, June 3 & 4 @ 7:00 p.m.
BPA’s duo of spring Theatre School performances celebrates the theatre stage musical. The Carnival of Animals (A Musical), based on the French classical music composed by Saint-Saens, puts words in the mouths of animals as they parade themselves for all to see and hear. Elephants, kangaroos, and lions are included in the enchanting performance by young actors, grades 3 - 4.
Based on the original story by Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio (The Musical) is performed by students, grades 5 – 8 and follows the story of a magical puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. Puppetry, dance, theatrical effects and a lively new score turn this heart warming story into a sure hit. Lauren Sheehan, age 12, was recently cast as the lead character, Pinocchio, in the upcoming production. When asked about her participation, she said, “It’s a thrilling experience that will be great to share with all the audiences.” This is Lauren’s 16th production since she started BPA’s Theatre School at the age of six.
The Carnival of Animals (A Musical) appears Monday, June 2, at 5:30 p.m. at BPA. The performance is free, and donations benefit the BPA Theatre School Scholarship Fund. Pinocchio (The Musical) shows Tuesday and Wednesday, June 3 and 4 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets, $10 per person, may be purchased by phone at 206.842.8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. BPA Box Office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and one hour prior to each performance. Both productions are suitable for all ages.
