GUARDING INTERNATIONAL SECRETS
The Pacific Fleet 1841-1844

Noted author of maritime and military history, Mary Kline Rose, shares this great story of an enlisted man who kept a forbidden journal of his experiences aboard the frigate, USS United States. It is an extraordinary account of the problems associated with “Manifest Destiny” and the way events of that time still influence foreign policy today. This lecture is part of the Humanities Washington Inquiring Minds Lecture Series.
