West Sound Reads will host Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. This free, community event will be at the Jewel Box Theatre, 225 Iverson Street in Poulsbo.

Smiley, the author of fiction, non-fiction, novellas, short stories and essays—will give a presentation, reading and booksigning. Smiley's latest novel, "Ten Days in the Hills," will be released in paperback in April.

This current novel is a sexy, irreverenttale that dives into Hollywood culture and the dynamic personalities that move in its inner circles in the daysfollowing the 2003 Academy Awards. Smiley's 2007 release, "Ordinary Love and Good Will," is a pairof novellas chronicling difficult choices that reshape the dynamics of two very different families. As both stories unfold, Smiley gracefully raises the questions that confront all families with the characteristic style and insight that has marked all of her work.

Smiley's 2005 release, "13 Ways of Looking at the Novel,"explores the power of novels from the perspectives of both reader and writer, inspiring a renewed passion for books.Smiley won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992 for her novel "A Thousand Acres." That book was made into a successful feature film in1997 starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Lang, Jennifer JasonLeigh and Jason Robards.West Sound Reads is sponsored by:-West Sound Independent Booksellers (Liberty Bay Books, EagleHarbor Books, The Traveler, The Dauntless Bookstore, BethelAvenue Book Company, Mostly Books, Sage Book Store and Olympic College Bookstore) and Kitsap Regional Library***Author photo must credit Elena Seibert. ***Direct author interview requests to:Martin Wilson, publicistVintage/Anchor Books, Random House, Inc.New York, NY 10019212.940.7546mwilson@randomhouse.com***Direct book store interview requests to:Suzanne Droppert, OwnerLiberty Bay Bookslibertybaybooks@embarqmail.com 360.779.5909West Sound Independent Booksellers is comprised of the following stores:
