Sunday, April 20, 3:00 pm: at BPA. Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra (BSO) welcomes the Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra (BIYO) to Hodges Hall for a special program entitled, A Musical Heritage. Following a nostalgic review prompted by BSO's 35th Anniversary, this program looks to the future - the future of classical music as embodied in the BIYO musicians. Music Director David Upham shares the podium with Reid Blickenstaff and George Ramsey as youth and adults perform together on stage. The program opens with the BIYO Sinfonietta joining forces with BSO members on Mascagni's ravishingly beautiful "Intermezzo" from the opera Cavelleria rusticana. The focus then shifts to soloists Brigitte Gingold, violin, and Max Aussendorf, cello, performing works by Mozart and J. C. Bach, respectively. Then the Youth Orchestra will perform excerpts from Mozart's famous serenade, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, in preparation for the grand finale - all three groups performing side-by-side on stage. A Musical Heritage offers a celebration of our community not to be missed!
