"GLOBAL WARMING:Changing Co2urse" Class at Stillwaters
The film by Al Gore, "Inconvenient Truth", has raised many questions and much interest in the general public about climate change and global warming. Beginning May 1, Stillwaters Environmental Center in Kingston will be offering the newest in their series of Sustainability Discussion Courses, on the topic of global warming and climate change.
The purpose of this Sustainability Discussion Course from Northwest Earth Institute is to explore our personal values and habits as they relate to climate change; to understand the history and science of global warming; and to empower ourselves and others to take action to curb global warming. The informal, but in-depth discussions of these popular classes at Stillwaters offer thought-provoking insights and life-changing ideas to the participants.
Classes are held on Thursday evenings, from 7 – 9 pm. Each class is limited to 12 participants.
Topics for "Global Warming" include:
Off Course: explore personal responses to the effects of climate change that is already observed around the world. Why are we slow to respond?
Collision Course: understand the history and the science of global climate changes, and the human participation in the process.
Changing Course: What are the actions we can take? New strategies to mitigate effects and curb the future warming trend.
Setting a New Course: creating a sustainable future with our individual and collective power.
The cost for participating in one of the courses is $30/person, or $40/household if you share a book. Evening classes will start at 7 pm on Thursday, May 1, and continue every Thursday until May 22. Please pre-register or get more information by calling Joleen at 360-297-2876.
