Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) presents
Bainbridge Poetry Slam
Tuesday, April 8 @ 7:30 p.m.
The BPA theatre is transformed into a nightclub, with refreshments and a no-host bar, for the second annual Bainbridge Poetry Slam, where poets perform their work in a competition before judges chosen from the audience. Gutsy poets should be prepared with three original poems that can be read in less than three minutes each. Poets are judged on both the content of the poem and their performance. No props, costumes, or musical instruments are allowed. There will be cash prizes, plus a free drink for all competitors! BPA expects a few members of the Seattle slam poetry community to give local bards some competition. To sign up or for more information, contact BPA at 206.842.8578 or email Kathleen Thorne at kthorne@BainbridgePerformingArts.org.
This year’s Poetry Slam includes a $5 suggested donation and takes place Tuesday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Bainbridge Performing Arts extends special thanks to its 2007 - 2008 Season Media Sponsor, Bainbridge Island Review. BPA is supported, in part, by the Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council, the City of Bainbridge Island, and by a two-year Organizational Support Program grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.
