BAINBRIDGE IN BLOOM AT BAINBRIDGE HOME AND GARDEN SHOW MARCH 22
2008 marks the twentieth year of the Bainbridge in Bloom (BIB), the Island¹s showcase for its beautiful local gardens. This nationally recognized and ever-popular garden tour is a fundraising event for the Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council.
Mark you calendars now: Bainbridge in Bloom takes place July 11-13. Friday July 11 is Patron Day, offering new highlights this year. Watch for special interest garden tours: photography in the garden, taught by a professional photographer; up close and personal with Bloom plants, led by a knowledgeable plant expert; and a special opportunity to meet George Little and David Lewis and learn about their amazing garden art and famous garden. This will be the last summer their garden will be open to the public, so don¹t miss your chance to see it!
TICKETS:
To kick off the 20-year celebration, the Bloom will begin selling tickets at the Home and Garden Show at Woodward Middle School on March 22, hosted by the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce. BIB Tickets will be sold for the Bloom¹s original 1988 price of $10 to the first twenty people at the booth (limit two per household).
Continuing the Bloom¹s anniversary spirit, special $20 tour tickets will be on sale for twenty days, from March 22 through April 10. Beginning April 11, general weekend tickets will be sold for $25 (in previous years tickets have cost $30). Tickets will be available online and over the phone (www.gardentour.info / 206.842.7901), and at various retail locations after Memorial Day.

July 11 Patron Day
Patrons will be able to enjoy the day by being able to drive the tour
route and have a more intimate look at the gardens. Two patron ticket
levels are offered: Benefactor and Enthusiast.
Enthusiast:
Added attractions to choose from for Enthusiast ticket holders only on Patron Day: 1. Special guided tour with horticultural experts to learn about the Bloom plants.
2. Lunch with George Little and David Lewis in their famous garden, which will offer a last look at the garden as this summer marks the end of the garden being open to the public.
3. An authentic ³English Cream Tea² in one of the Bloom gardens.
4. The chance to see the gardens through the eyes of a professional
photographer and learn tips and techniques on how to capture the beauty of your garden through photography.
Benefactor:
Benefactor ticket holders will enjoy 1) morning coffee and pastries with George Little and David Lewis in their nationally-recognized garden, and 2) a catered luncheon at an exclusive waterfront garden. Benefactor ticket holders are also are chauffeured to all of the gardens and are invited as special guests to attend the evening dinner party.
The dinner party on July 11 with be a fun-filled evening of classic island bar-b-que and live music. It will be located at a beautiful home by Gazzam Lake with magnificent view of Olympic mountains.
Bicycle the Bloom for $20. Maps and directions will be provided.
Kitsap Transit will offer transportation for weekend. Shuttle buses from Agate Pass Transportation will also be provided at selected gardens.
Five beautiful owner-cared for gardens will be featured. Tour guests will enjoy a 5 acre, English inspired garden with Pacific Northwest native plants; a garden on a high bluff overlooking Eagle Harbor complete with sun, shade, and vegetable gardens; a garden designed for low water usage and low maintenance (2 hours/week); a garden filled with beds of winter-tolerant tropicals and Mediterranean plants, and a garden abundantly planted with colorful foliage and framed with well-placed hardscaping.
Plant vendors will be featured in one of the gardens along with lunch on July 12 & 13. See website for listing of plant vendors and food choices.
